It’s not just a donation. It’s an investment in a child’s future. When you donate online to Big Brothers Big Sisters, you join our cause and directly support children in our community. No matter how little or big the amount, donating can start making a difference in the lives of young people around you.
Research shows that our mentoring works. Children with a Big Brother or Big Sister show real differences in their personal and academic lives. They are more confident in their schoolwork performance, they get along better with their families and they’re 52% less likely to skip school.
Your financial support helps us provide programs and services in our community—so we can develop more college grads, community leaders and entrepreneurs.
Roughly 90% of every dollar you give goes directly to making and supporting matches between Littles and Bigs. Great Nonprofits, a leading provider of reviews and ratings of nonprofit organizations throughout the U.S, has ranked Big Brothers Big Sisters of America as a top Children's and Families Nonprofit and awarded us a 5-star rating. This means you can rest assured that we are using donations wisely.
Your financial support starts lots of things, like:
Mark Ellis, Rapid City native and 2nd baseman for the Los Angeles Dodgers, and his wife, Sarah, have teamed with Rob and Deborah Mudge and Tom and Sharon Warner to establish a matching fund for the Start Something Big Campaign to help Big Brothers Big Sisters of the Black Hills celebrate our 50th anniversary.
You do not have to be a pro athlete to make this double play! All you need to do is sponsor one Big/Little match for two years, $1,000.00 each year per match. Mark and his team will then match your donation; thus the double play where your match now becomes two.
Our goal is to fund 50 new matches each year in 2011 and 2012. Join our Start Something Big Team by supporting a match and helping a Little to meet his or her special Big. .
