Janice knew she would need help

When Janice came to the Big Brother Big Sisters mother mentor program as a single mom, she knew she was going to need help with her soon to be born son. Her mother had died when she was twelve and there were no women in her life able to fulfill her needs. She and her Mother Mentor immediately became friends and a strong bond was formed. Janice felt at ease discussing her life. Her self esteem grew and she began making better decisions for her and her son. Over the years Janice became like another daughter to her Mother Mentor. She not only got a Mother Mentor, but an entire family who cared for and supported her. She is now pursuing a career in the medical field and the bond between her and her Mother Mentor continues to grow.
